Warranty terms, covered repairs & service location

This Limited Warranty is issued by Peterson Attachments (the “Seller”) to the original retail purchaser (the “Buyer”) of new or used equipment and attachments sold by Seller. This warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty provided by Seller and is in lieu of all other warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Seller warrants that the equipment and attachments will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service, subject to the terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of this Limited Warranty.

Covered repairs

Subject to the exclusions below, Seller will, at its option, repair or replace any defective part or component at no charge for parts and labor when the defect is verified by Seller’s authorized technician. Replaced parts become the property of Seller.

Where warranty work is performed

All warranty service, repairs or replacements will be performed at Seller’s facility in Charlton, Massachusetts, unless field warranty service is expressly authorized by Seller. Field warranty service may be allowed under certain circumstances and timelines determined solely by Seller at the time warranty work is needed.

Buyer is not required to pay for transportation costs to and from the facility. Buyer is strongly encouraged to deliver the equipment or attachment to Seller’s facility whenever possible, as this typically results in significantly faster diagnosis, repair and return.

Seller reserves the right to inspect any claimed defect at its facility or in the field, if field service is authorized, before approving warranty coverage. All claims are subject to inspection and approval by Seller’s authorized personnel.

Effective date & coverage start

Effective date: date of invoice. Coverage begins on delivery to Buyer and is limited to the periods above or as stated on the Sales Agreement / Invoice, whichever is applicable. Coverage ends at the expiration of the stated period.

Breaker warranty extensions & required rebuild intervals

If Buyer brings the hydraulic breaker to Seller for recommended rebuild and reseal at the scheduled intervals—seals at one (1) year and pads at two (2) years from delivery or the previous rebuild—and Seller performs the rebuild using genuine or Seller-approved parts, the warranty on that breaker is extended as follows:

  • New hydraulic breakers: an additional six (6) months from completion of the rebuild.
  • Used hydraulic breakers: an additional three (3) months from completion of the rebuild.
  • The extension applies only to rebuilt components and remains subject to all other terms, exclusions and limitations.
  • The extension must be documented in writing by Seller at the time of the rebuild.
  • Missing the recommended interval or having anyone other than Seller perform the rebuild voids any possibility of warranty extension.
General exclusions & hydraulic breaker wear items

General exclusions

This warranty does not cover, and Seller expressly disclaims responsibility for:

  • Normal wear and tear.
  • Damage or failure caused by abuse, misuse, neglect, improper operation or lack of proper maintenance.
  • Operation outside the manufacturer’s published specifications or recommended guidelines.
  • Non-genuine or aftermarket parts, fluids or lubricants not approved by the original equipment manufacturer.
  • Unauthorized repairs, modifications or alterations.
  • Damage resulting from accidents, collisions, fire, theft, vandalism or acts of God.
  • Consequential damages, including loss of profits, downtime, rental costs or damage to other property.
  • Any failure resulting from Buyer’s failure to follow the equipment’s Operation and Maintenance Manual.

Wear items are not covered

The warranty does not cover normal wear items, including bracket bolts, chisel points (bits), bushings, thrust rings, seals, greaser cartridges, greaser hoses, main hydraulic supply and return hoses, accumulators, or any other component designed to wear during normal operation. These items require regular inspection and replacement at Buyer’s expense.

Specific exclusions: excavators & hydraulic breakers

Excavators — new and used

Damage or failure resulting from the following is excluded:

  • Operator abuse, including overloading the boom or arm beyond rated capacity, using the machine for non-excavation purposes (such as a crane or demolition tool without proper attachments), or operating on unstable or unsuitable terrain.
  • Lack of scheduled maintenance, including daily inspections, fluid changes, filter replacements or recommended undercarriage lubrication.
  • Improper track or tire tension, excessive high-speed travel, or operation with damaged or worn undercarriage components.
  • Hydraulic overheating caused by continuous high-pressure operation without adequate cooling periods or low fluid levels.
  • Electrical or electronic failures caused by water intrusion, improper jump-starting or aftermarket wiring modifications.

Hydraulic breakers — new and used

In addition to the general exclusions, abuse or overheating of the hammer is expressly excluded. Examples include:

  • Operating without continuous, adequate lubrication through the automatic greasing system.
  • Overheating from prolonged continuous hammering without cooldown periods, hydraulic pressures or flow rates outside manufacturer specifications, or ambient temperatures exceeding recommended limits.
  • Side-loading the chisel, blank-firing (hammering without contact with material), or use on materials harder than rated capacity, such as unfractured granite or reinforced concrete with excessive rebar.
  • Unauthorized modifications to the hammer, carrier or hydraulic circuit.
Specific exclusions: mounting brackets & buckets

Brackets — quick-couplers and mounting brackets

The warranty does not cover:

  • Misalignment or improper installation causing excessive stress on pins, bushings or hydraulic cylinders.
  • Use with incompatible excavator models, buckets or attachments.
  • Failure to properly torque mounting bolts or inspect and replace worn pins and bushings at recommended intervals.
  • Abuse such as dropping attachments from height, prying, or using the bracket as a lifting point beyond its rated capacity.
  • Wear items, including pins, bushings, hydraulic seals and pivot bearings.

Buckets

The warranty does not cover:

  • Normal wear or damage to cutting edges, teeth, wear plates, side cutters or heel shrouds.
  • Abuse, including using the bucket as a pry bar, raking or dragging material sideways under heavy load, hammering with the bucket edge, or operation in highly abrasive or rocky conditions without appropriate wear protection.
  • Structural failure caused by overloading, improper digging angles or impact with hidden obstructions such as buried utilities or large boulders.
  • Weld cracks resulting from lack of proper maintenance or operation outside the bucket’s design specifications.
Owner responsibilities, transfer & governing law

To maintain coverage, Buyer must:

  1. Operate and maintain equipment according to the manufacturer’s Operation and Maintenance Manual.
  2. Maintain complete and accurate service records and provide them to Seller upon request.
  3. Use only genuine or Seller-approved replacement parts and fluids.
  4. Notify Seller immediately upon discovery of a defect, and cease use if continued operation could cause further damage.

Non-transferable coverage

This warranty applies only to the original Buyer.

Governing law

Massachusetts. Disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of Worcester County, Massachusetts.

By purchasing equipment or an attachment from Peterson Attachments, Buyer acknowledges having read, understood and agreed to all terms and conditions of this Limited Warranty.

Hydraulic breaker rebuild estimates

Download estimate disclaimer (PDF) ↓

All estimates are subject to change based on the actual condition of the hydraulic breaker upon disassembly and inspection.

Labor

Labor rates and hours on an estimate are based on the minimum time required for a standard rebuild under optimal conditions. If inspection reveals damage to the hydraulic section, pads, casing or other components beyond a reasonable level of normal wear and tear, additional labor hours may be required. Any increase in labor hours will be reflected in the final invoice.

Parts

The parts listed on an estimate represent the minimum components typically required for a basic rebuild. Parts that are not standard for a full rebuild will be clearly identified in the description. If additional parts are needed that were not included in the initial estimate, Peterson Attachments will contact the customer for approval before installation and inclusion on the final invoice.

By accepting the quote, the customer states a clear understanding of this disclaimer.
